Now Playing: Just the two of us. We can make it if we try...Just the two of us.
Just the two of us. Building castles in the sky...Just the two of us--
You and I. - Just the Two of Us, Will Smith version, Just The Two Of Us

Although I talk to you everyday, thought I'd write you a note on your special day. I guess I'll start this off with memories...of course the ones that were special to you and me. Like how I was always a sucker for your magical stunting....especially how you could always find hair ties in my belly button. Or how quarters magically appeared behind my ears, but when I checked they were never there.

I remember that time you "taught" me how to drive, even though years later, Ma told me you drove with your thighs! I was steering the wheel and the car was moving and I really thought that I was cruising. But I digress, it was a small farce, that definitely seemed to warm my heart.

Or our races in the park with Gina and her dad, where y'all would put us on your shoulders and run crazy fast. And I definitely remember us always winning, but if I ask Gina there could be a different ending.

We used to have steak once a week, before mommy got home to take a peak :). And I ate it medium-rare just like you...until I got older and found out that it was basically raw food.

Remember your road rage moment when you flipped the bird to that Asian guy, and he mistakenly took it as the American way to say hi? (I still laugh at that 'til this day btw)

Or our "fishing" trips where we sat there all day, only to catch the fish and throw it back in the bay...or lake...or random body of water?

I remember the one time I was so mad at you! You gave me a spanking and said, "I did it because I love you." I was still mad after and I hollered and screamed, until later you took me to Bob's for a scoop of ice cream.

Or that Capitol Hill Classic when I was running in the race, you saw I was getting tired, so you ran with me the whole way.

In any case, just wanted to say thanks for everything dad...I know your somewhere around still driving that brown van. Also, I wanted to thank you too...because I get half of my stunning looks from you. From my Richardson nose to that scrunched up lip thing you did while thinking...Yea, I got that too but keep on reading.

24 years later you still mean the world, and I'll forever be a Daddy's girl!

Happy Birthday!!!!

That was sweet homeslice. Im in class tearing up a little. makes me want to get poetic and write something to my own father, letting him know how much i appreciate him and all he has done is doing and will do for me. Even though he can be a little aggravating. I needed this. And Im pretty sure you needed it too. Writing is good for the soul. Good stuff. This was good for my mental tummy. Mmm! Mmm!
